As this is a Crossfire X based review today we need to use another card to double the potential framerate ‘horsepower'. There is absolutely no need to purchase two Flex Editions for CFx as all the screens will be driven from the Flex card, directly.
This is good news for those of you who already have a HD5770 card in your system because you can mix and match without any issues.
To prove CrossFireX compatibility, we are going to test with another card we have in storage – the Sapphire HD5770 VaporX. If you want to read our full review then head over here.
We will give a brief recap of this product below.
The Vapor X cooler is a beauty and is part of the reason Sapphire have earned such a great reputation with the enthusiast audience. This card has a 10mhz core clock increase which will default to the reference speeds when paired with the Flex.
A close up of the nine blade fan that Sapphire use, notice the heatsink under. The fan incidentally is larger than the reference design however it does vent a little heat inside the chassis rather than ‘out the back'.
It is worth reiterating that any Crossfire compliant HD5770 card can be paired with the Flex Edition.
