PCSpecialist Fusion Black Friday Prebuilt PC Review

Value for money is clearly the focus from PCSpecialist with the Fusion Black Friday desktop. The system usually sells for £1067 but this RRP has fallen to £899 as part of their Black Friday deals. This brings the whole system down to a price that we feel is great value.

Gaming performance at 1080p is solid. The system is capable of maintaining 60+fps in the majority of titles we tested. That testing was done with graphical settings at their maximum too (excluding ray tracing), so the recorded frame rate and general gaming performance could be pushed even higher with some settings tweaks and optimisations.

The system may not be perfect, but all of our quibbles fade when considering the prize. There's a lack of any substantial upgrade path, for instance, due to the now outdated AM4 platform – but balanced against that, we're getting a Zen3 8-core CPU for under £900. Likewise, we could get better performance with memory fast than the included 3200MHz kit, but again, this can be forgiven when considering the price of the system as a whole.

One area for improvement is definitely the PSU. While the Corsair unit found in the system will be perfectly adequate for the specification, it will more than likely be a needed upgrade in the future if the GPU power requirements ever increase. The 80+ Bronze rating also leave a little to be desired in terms of quality and reliability as we head into 2024.

That said, cooling and acoustics are very impressive. The PCS Frostflow 150 CPU cooler easily handled the heat generated by the Ryzen 7 5700X in all scenarios and the included 4x 120mm case fans never reached the point of being annoying – far from it.

Overall, the Fusion Black Friday is a great choice for anyone looking to purchase an entry level gaming PC or upgrade an older machine. Performance and value for money are the highlights with the system being well put together and configured correctly out of the box.

You can purchase the Fusion directly from PCSpecialist for £899 as part of their Black Friday deals HERE.

Pros:

  • Solid 1080p gaming performance.
  • Great cooling and thermal performance.
  • Built well and configured correctly.
  • Good quality parts.
  • Would cost £1067 without the Black Friday deal.

Cons:

  • AM4 platform lacks an upgrade path.
  • Bronze rated PSU.
  • Memory could be faster.

KitGuru says: The Fusion desktop is great value for money at this special Black Friday pricing of £899. 1080p gaming performance is good and thermal performance is excellent. Overall this PC will suit anyone looking for a great entry level system and will provide a good gaming experience while having enough in the tank for some more demanding workloads.
