PCSpecialist Helio Ultra Review (9700X + 4070S)

Gaming on the Helio Ultra was great and the system excelled when running titles at 2560×1440 as can be seen by the above screenshot from Red Dead Redemption 2. Running this title at maximum settings using the Vulkan API results in performance of roughly 110 FPS at 1440p. (For full details please watch our video review over on YouTube).

Moving in to F1 24 and turning the resolution up to 3840×2160 saw the Helio Ultra manage to maintain FPS well north of 100 while running the game at maximum graphical settings.

Finally, sticking at 3840×2160 resolution and moving in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023), again at maximum graphics, and still the performance was impressive with the Helio Ultra running the game at roughly 100FPS throughout the built in benchmark.

KitGuru Games: DLSS 5 misses the point

It would be hard to argue that NVIDIA’s DLSS technologies haven’t been a net positive to the PC space, with the machine-learning based upscaler successfully translating lower resolution inputs into a final image which is perceivably sharper while hogging fewer resources. Though somewhat more contentious, the next evolution of DLSS came in the form of Frame Generation, using ML in order to generate additional frames for high-refresh rate gaming. Both techniques can have their issues, but generally speaking they’ve allowed for more people to experience higher-end titles at increased frame rates. DLSS 5, however, takes a sharp pivot, with a very different end goal in mind than the performance-boosting versions that came before.
