PlayStation 5 launch exclusive Godfall is coming to Xbox One

Godfall has had an interesting life. Originally announced as a PS5 exclusive, the game was the first title to officially be announced for Sony’s then-next-gen system. Since launch, the game has found its way to PC, via the Epic Games Store, and even the PS4. Now, Godfall is finally finding its way onto Xbox (and Steam).

In a short trailer released onto their official YouTube page, Microsoft announced that Godfall: Ultimate Edition is coming to the Xbox One as well as the Series X|S on the 7th of April 2022.

Described as the “best and most complete way to enjoy Godfall,” the Ultimate Edition will come with the base game, the Fire & Darkness Expansion, and the Ascended and Pre-order Cosmetic Packs.

Godfall launched on PS5 in Novemebr 2020 to little fanfare, with both critics and fans alike offering mixed reactions to the “looter-slasher” especially as the game was one of the first next-gen games to cost $70. Godfall eventually came to Epic Games and PS4, with PlayStation Plus owners even being given the game for free – though it was a somewhat gimped version, lacking the game’s campaign mode and more.

While it is safe to say that Godfall fell below expectations, it will be interesting to see whether this upcoming Ultimate Edition is approached with fresh eyes, and if the team at Counterplay Games have done enough to entice Xbox and Steam players.
