System Shock 2 Remastered is free on the Epic Games Store

Each week, the Epic Games Store gives away a title or two of varying quality to all those with an EGS account. Available to claim for the next 7 days, account holders can get their hands on the mystery-focused visual novel BURIED STARS alongside the 25th anniversary remaster of the iconic PC classic System Shock 2.

Available to add to your library from today at 4PM UK Time until the 8th of October, this week’s free Epic Games Store offerings feature the following:

• BURIED STARS
• System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

System Shock 2 needs little introduction, being the sequel to one of the most influential titles in the immersive-sim genre. Remastered by porting specialists Nightdive Studios just last year, this 25th Anniversary edition brings with it a great deal of enhancements, including but not limited to: crossplay and co-op multiplayer; enhanced mod support; additional playstyles; quality-of-life improvements and much more.

BURIED STARS meanwhile is a lesser-known title, being a narrative-focused anime-styled adventure puzzler similar to the likes of Zero Escape; Steins;Gate and other such visual novels. Released back in 2021, this murder-mystery was generally well received, with its premise in particular being praised. While not for everyone, BURIED STARS is worth checking out for those who enjoy character-led VNs.

Both System Shock 2 and BURIED STARS are free to add to your library from today, and will remain so in perpetuity as long as they are claimed before the 8th of October.
