Gray Zone Warfare Spearhead update brings massive player surge

Gray Zone Warfare has been out for a while now but hasn't made headlines as of late. That changed over the weekend thanks to the success of the new Spearhead update, which resulted in a 1000% player increase for the game.

After the update, according to the developer, the monthly peak players increased by 1076%, with peak daily active players reaching 126,600 and peak concurrent users at 30,954 on April 2nd. However, over the past weekend, the numbers increased further, with peak concurrent players reaching 43,770 (via SteamDB).

As for why so many players came back, everything points to the massive Spearhead update. One big change that comes with it is the new AI. The new update makes in-game bots act more human by reducing their supernatural precision at a distance and slowing their ability to track sounds.

Other things touched by the new update are tasks, updated movement, new locations, bosses, gear, and weapons, a revamped loot system, and visual improvements.

The game is usually available on Steam for £34.90, but the current 33% discount brings the price down to £23.44. The Tactical, Elite, and Supporter editions are also available with a 33% discount.
