Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 to bring MGS 4 to new platforms

A few weeks ago, Konami announced the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1. The name indicates that there will also be a Vol 2 at some point collecting the more modern titles in the series. According to a leak this week, Vol 2 is indeed on the way and will include Metal Gear Solid 4, as well as Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and its mini prequel, Ground Zeroes. This collection could potentially mark the first time Metal Gear Solid 4 becomes available on platforms other than Sony's PlayStation 3, where it has been exclusive for the past 15 years.

The discovery of updated links on Konami's official Metal Gear Solid franchise timeline by Nitroid suggests the three games will be featured in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2. While Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was previously included in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360, Metal Gear Solid 4 was exclusively released on the PS3.

While MGS 4 remained a PlayStation exclusive, Metal Gear Solid 5, the final Kojima-led game in the franchise, was released in 2015 for multiple platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

Konami has not yet officially announced Vol 2 and its contents but we would expect to hear more soon. Aside from these collections, Konami is also working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which will be a standalone release.

KitGuru says: It's great to see an award-winning title like MGS 4 coming to other platforms, especially PC. Like the MGS Vol. 1 titles, it would be nice if Konami also launched the Vol. 2 games as standalone purchases.
