Resident Evil Requiem has already sold 7 million copies

Resident Evil Requiem has officially surpassed 7 million copies sold since its debut just last month. This marks a significant jump from the 6 million tally reported in mid-April, further cementing its status as a titan of the horror genre.

The game has been a record-breaker from the jump, having moved 5 million units in its first five days, making it the fastest-selling entry in the history of the Resident Evil franchise. To commemorate this milestone, director Koshi Nakanishi took to Instagram to share a look at the studio's festivities, which featured two massive, custom-themed cakes dedicated to the game's protagonists.

The celebration was split between the game's lead duo, Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft. The Leon-themed cake sported a black-iced finish, was adorned with fresh blueberries and raspberries, and was topped with a figure of Leon holding a pistol and a hatchet. In contrast, the Grace Ashcroft cake opted for a cleaner white frosting, with a sculpted zombie hand bursting through. Messages on the cakes read “Welcome to 7m Leon!” and “Grace Congratulations on 7 million!”.

The momentum isn't slowing down for fans, either, with a content update slated for release next month. Beyond that, a story DLC is confirmed to be in development, but not ready for release in the immediate future.
