Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 brings a new epilogue, new game modes and more optimisations

Larian truly impressed us all with the 1.0 launch of Baldur's Gate 3, offering a lengthy and in-depth campaign filled with tons of mechanics, quests and characters to explore. The work didn't stop in August though, since then, the studio has been working on major patches, and the latest just rolled in at 30GB.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 5 will be a 30GB download and will introduce an entirely new epilogue chapter to the game with thousands of new lines of dialogue. The new epilogue is designed to bring “a well deserved sense of closure” to your party's journey.

Unfortunately, while the update is a 30GB download, Larian recommends that you have 130GB of free space to install it, as it would seem this patch is so big that the game will essentially need to reinstall itself to apply the patch. If you don't have that much free space, it is recommended that you uninstall the game and then reinstall it as the latest version will already have the patch applied. It isn't an ideal scenario, but hopefully this is the only time something like this has to be done.

While the new Epilogue is the highlight of the update, Larian has also packed a lot more in here, including a new Honour Mode and Custom Mode for starting a fresh game, additional performance improvements specifically targeting the game's third act, which has been known to be a bit of a resource hog, better inventory management while at the camp, a brand new fight at Ramazith's Tower and more.

You can find the patch notes, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I'm still making my way through Baldur's Gate 3 but the amount of improvements that Larian continues to make is highly impressive. Are you still playing this one? Will you be running through the end of the game again to see the improved epilogue?
