Recently, there has been a lot of focus on Bioware’s new IP, Anthem. However, that isn’t the only game currently in the works as the Dragon Age team appears to be gearing up for production. Previously, members of Bioware have confirmed that early work on the next Dragon Age game has begun but this week, series creative director Mike Laidlaw expanded on that.
Speaking on the 1099 podcast, Mike Laidlaw explained that “something is happening with Dragon Age”, adding that the team is currently in the process of hiring a lot of people as the studio prepares for full production.
While Dragon Age Inquisition had its share of ups and downs, it was mostly well received, so a follow-up has been expected since. Over the last few years, the Dragon Age team has been quiet on the subject but last month, it was confirmed that writer Alexis Kennedy had been working on the new game. Now with Laidlaw’s comments added on, it sounds like the planning/pre-production is sorted.
If full production is only just getting under way this year, then the game likely won’t see the light of day until at least 2019. Still, it is exciting to know that more Dragon Age is on the way.
KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed Dragon Age Inquisition at the time, though I didn’t get around to properly completing it. Are many of you fans of the Dragon Age series? What are you hoping for from the next game?
