Black Ops 6 launch patch rebalances weapons, maps and nerfs aim assist

We are less than 24 hours away from the launch of Black Ops 6. Ahead of the game unlocking in the early hours of tomorrow morning, Activision has revealed details about the game's day-one patch.

For those who tend to dive into each year's COD for the campaign, you will be pleased to know that Black Ops 6 brings back the campaign missions of old, doing away with Modern Warfare 3's boring ‘open world' missions. Finishing the campaign will unlock a number of rewards, including an operator skin, a number of weapon blueprints and some other cosmetics.

Starting from launch tomorrow, Black Ops 6 owners will also have access to an all-new round-based Zombies mode, furthering the Dark Aether storyline, with an all-new main quest and side quests to complete. If PvP multiplayer is more your thing, the classic COD multiplayer mode is also here, with 16 maps available at launch.

The day-one patch primarily concerns multiplayer, with a host of weapon balance changes, new movement settings, and several map adjustments based on feedback from the beta. Importantly, this day-one patch also nerfs aim-assist for controller users while at point blank range.

There will no doubt be some issues that pop up over the weekend as millions of players jump in for the first time. However, patches will also be quite swift, as has been the case in previous years. At this point, the Season One patch is expected to drop in mid-November, an update that will no doubt be packed with further changes.
