Blizzard brings 60FPS gameplay to Overwatch on Switch 2

While Overwatch has been available on the Nintendo Switch for a long time now, it was arguably the worst way to play the game. While PC players have access to infinite frame rates, and Xbox and PlayStation players had access to 60FPS, Overwatch on the Switch was limited to 30FPS, which is not ideal for a competitive first-person shooter. That changes this week with the new Switch 2 patch.

The Switch 2 patch for Overwatch is now available, bringing with it 60FPS gameplay as the new standard in both handheld and docked modes. The Switch 2 edition of the game also includes “better visuals and higher fidelity audio”, so you should see and hear improvements beyond the more fluid gameplay.

Overwatch first came to Nintendo Switch consoles back in 2019, just before Blizzard moved everything over to Overwatch 2. Eventually, Blizzard dropped the “2” from the name and went back to just calling the game Overwatch, while also re-introducing things from the original game like free hero characters and loot boxes for cosmetics.

Overwatch lands on Switch 2 today alongside the game's latest season of content, which includes a brand new hero, a new event, a new version of the Antarctica map and more.
