Back when CD Projekt Red upgraded The Witcher 3 for next-gen consoles, it paid a bunch of modders for their work in order to implement their creations into the official game. Now, it appears that CD Projekt Red has gone a step further for The Witcher 3 Remastered, hiring the creator of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project to help create new assets for the game.
In a post shared on the Nexus Mods forum, Witcher 3 HD Reworked creator, HalkHogan, confirmed that they worked with CD Projekt Red on The Witcher 3 Remastered to create even better assets for the new version of the game.
“It’s been a while since the last news and I would like to clarify any questions and confirm that I am cooperating with CDPR on the Witcher 3 Remaster and my work will be officially available in the game on September 29th (on PC and consoles), HDRP will no longer be needed”, HalkHogan stated.
“Almost all in-game characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armors and equipment for Geralt & Roach, and a large part of the environment have been reworked and I’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring the highest quality”.
It sounds like The Witcher 3 Remastered won't just use the mod, but will use even higher quality assets, using the HDRP modification as a baseline, and then touching things up from there. However, the mod will still be available to download for those who choose to play the original version of the game over the remaster.
Aside from new textures and other assets, CD Projekt Red has also implemented all-new visual effects and animations to make the remaster stand out. Path Traced lighting effects will also be available in the PC version of the game, and beyond graphics, there are a number of mechanical adjustments to make movement, traversal and horse riding smoother.
