Alongside Gamescom, Playground Games has released a new 13‑minute gameplay clip for Fable. While the previous showcase focused on a small village and side content out in the open world, this latest footage gives us our first proper look at Bowerstone, the capital city of Albion.
Bowerstone is the largest urban area in the game, filled with densely packed streets, a busy market and a huge number of NPCs. Once again, we see how different choices can impact your reputation, with the new karma system reacting to how you behave around townsfolk and quest givers.
This new clip also features the reworked female Hero. The original reveal trailer drew criticism over her design, but the updated model shown here looks noticeably different and much closer to what fans expected from a modern Fable protagonist.
In the footage, the Hero meets Humphry, the guildmaster of the Hero Guild, to gather information for a quest. Humphry isn’t exactly thrilled, as he considers himself retired. He looks like a complete mess, which lines up with the idea that the glory days of the Hero Guild are long behind them.
The gameplay was captured using the PC build at Ultra settings and visually, it looks fantastic. The city is packed with detail, lighting is excellent and the overall presentation feels like a clear step up from earlier footage.
KitGuru Says: At this point, I'm pretty convinced that Fable is going to be fantastic. Slowly but surely, Playground Games have won me over with each new clip.
