Discord voice chat is coming to Xbox consoles

Last year, Discord began working on new integration tools to bring voice chat and server access to consoles. Discord initially partnered with Sony to test console integration, but now, Discord Chat is also heading to Xbox consoles.

As of yesterday evening, Xbox Insider testers now have an alpha ring update with Discord integration for Xbox. You'll be able to link your Discord account and access voice channels and group calls directly from your Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One console. This will be a good replacement for Xbox's built-in party chat, as Discord is more friendly for cross-platform play.

While playing a game on Xbox, you'll be able to see who is in the call and speaking in the dashboard, and you'll be able to adjust sound settings so you can strike the right balance between comms and game audio.

There is no date for when this will roll out officially to all users. For now, Discord on Xbox is in alpha ring testing, so we would anticipate a full rollout within the next few months.

KitGuru Says: Typically while I'm playing on my Xbox, I am isolated from all my PC gaming friends. Discord integration solves that problem nicely and also makes more sense as the voice chat off choice now that most major multiplayer games offer crossplay between consoles and PC.
