Dragon Quest 12 was first announced around five years ago now, but Square Enix went silent on the project soon after. Now, we seem to know why. The game has gone through an apparent reboot after its initial reveal.
Originally, Dragon Quest 12 was due to be titled ‘Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate', but plans changed along the way. Now, Dragon Quest 12 is being re-revealed with a new subtitle ‘Beyond Dreams', which is, without a doubt, less cool.
The new title was revealed in an update video shared as part of the Dragon Quest 40th anniversary stream. Unfortunately, the stream did not deliver much more information on the game but a short new teaser trailer did give us a look at the new protagonist and one of their companions.
There is no release date yet for Dragon Quest 12, so it is likely at least another year away, if not longer. In the meantime though, fans can expect another re-release of Dragon Quest 11, this time for the Switch 2, arriving in September.
KitGuru Says: I had hoped for much more information on Dragon Quest 12 considering how long it has been in development for. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be waiting another year or two.
