Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires delayed indefinitely

At the Tokyo Game Show last year, Koei Tecmo announced Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires, a new take on the hack and slash formula with a bigger focus on siege battles and fortress-based skirmishes. While the game was initially due to release in ‘early 2021', the game has since been delayed indefinitely.

This week, Omega Force and Koei Tecmo announced that Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will no longer be coming in ‘early 2021':

The announcement unfortunately does not include a new release window so for now, the game has been delayed indefinitely. In the meantime, the team will be “working hard on delivering the best game possible”.

A specific reason wasn't given for the delay, but a new release date will be announced sometime in the future. It is likely that remote working due to COVID-19 has had an impact on this game's progress since the reveal last year.
