Final Fantasy 16 will be getting a multi-hour long demo

We're just one month away from the launch of Final Fantasy 16. Today, first-impressions pieces went live from select media outlets based on a recent hands-on demo. Now, Sony has confirmed that we'll get to try the game out for ourselves soon ahead of launch.

Final Fantasy 16 will be getting a public demo ahead of release. The demo will offer players the chance to experience the first couple of hours of the game ahead of release and better yet, progress made in the demo will carry over to the full release version, so you won't have to start over again on day-one if you don't want to.

There is no exact date for the demo yet but chances are we'll get more information on Wednesday, during Sony's PlayStation Showcase stream, which goes live at 9PM BST. Previously, showcases have been used to shadow-drop free demos for upcoming releases, so there is a decent chance that you'll be able to try Final Fantasy 16 for yourself before this week is over – as long as you own a PS5.

Final Fantasy 16 is due to release on the 22nd of June for the PS5. The game will be a timed exclusive for PS5 consoles for six months, although Square Enix has already warned that this does not mean that a PC version will be ready to release before the end of this year. In fact, the game's producer, Naoki Yoshida, has effectively confirmed that the PC version won't be coming out until sometime in 2024 at the earliest.
