Gears of War collection leaks via PSN

Recent evidence shows that the PlayStation Store has been updated with a hidden listing for the Gears of War Collection. Typically, these PSN Store backend leaks are legitimate, so it appears that after a decade of appearing in rumours, the Gears Trilogy will finally return in remastered form.

As reported by Detective Seeds, the Gears of War Collection has now appeared on the PlayStation Store backend, revealing an apparent mid-August release date. The collection will include the three original Gears of War games, giving fans a chance to catch up and relive the story ahead of next year's prequel, Gears of War E-Day, featuring a much younger Marcus Fenix fighting in the first locust invasion, before being popped in a cell, leading directly into the events of the original Gears of War.

According to Jez Corden, fans should not expect multiplayer to be part of this collection. While the Gears of War PvP and Horde modes have always been popular, for this release, Microsoft appears to be focused purely on the campaign and bringing the trilogy to new players who never owned an Xbox 360 or Xbox One console.

With this collection set to arrive later this year, Microsoft will have more time to polish up Gears E-Day for 2026, although some rumours have suggested that the prequel could also potentially arrive this year.

KitGuru Says: The Gears of War trilogy is incredible and will be well worth playing for anyone who never got to experience it before. Hopefully this collection spruces up the graphics a bit though, rather than just delivering a resolution and frame rate bump.
