Hitman 3 is getting a ray-tracing upgrade and support for VR on PC

IO Interactive has had a quietly successful year, having released Hitman 3 back in January, followed by a full year of free updates and DLC content. This week, the studio announced its year-two roadmap for the game, which will include a ray-tracing upgrade for the game on PC, as well as a VR version of the game.

Hitman 3's second year of content will kick off on the 20th of January 2022 and it looks like it will be pretty big – particularly for PC gamers. Not only will the game be getting ray-traced graphics on PC, but the game will also become playable in virtual reality on PC systems for the first time.

Hitman 3 will become playable in VR on PC in January 2022, and a new Elusive Target Arcade mode will also be introduced to the game across all platforms. The rest of the year will see IO Interactive releasing new maps, story content and other game modes in development.

Shortly after launch, IO Interactive announced that Hitman 3 had become a financial success, giving the studio a great start as an independent company, following its split from Square Enix. Moving forward, IO will be juggling multiple major projects, including continued updates for Hitman 3 and new games, including one based on the James Bond IP.

KitGuru Says: Hitman 3 may have been snubbed at The Game Awards this year, but IO Interactive is still grabbing plenty of headlines with its continued updates to the game. It will be particularly interesting to see how well the game plays in VR in early next year.
