Insomniac’s Spider-Man series has surpassed 50 million games sold

In 2018, Insomniac surprised us all with the release of Marvel's Spider-Man, which went on to be heralded as one of the best superhero games ever made. In late 2023, we finally got a sequel with Spider-Man 2, which has now surpassed 10 million copies sold.

Following its release in November 2023, exclusively on PS5 consoles, Spider-Man 2 has now surpassed 10 million copies sold, as confirmed by Insomniac today:

Overall, this means Insomniac's series of Spider-Man titles, spanning the original 2018 game, the 2020 remaster, the standalone Miles Morales game and Spider-Man 2, have sold over 50 million copies combined, putting it in the upper echelon of video game franchises.

Insomniac has its own little Marvel universe going on with Spider-Man at the centre. Soon, Insomniac will expand beyond the Spiderverse, with plans for a standalone Wolverine game in 2025, followed by a full-fledged X-Men game. There will also be a third Spider-Man game released eventually, but as we learned through document leaks months ago, the sequel to Spider-Man 2 may take longer and cost more to make.
