MultiVersus has been pulled from digital stores

Last month, WB shocked MultiVersus players by announcing that the ‘beta' period for the game was ending after several months of patches, seasonal content updates and DLC character drops. With the beta ending, the game is going offline until 2024. To coincide with this, the game has now been pulled from digital stores.

If you already have MultiVersus in your digital library on console or PC, you can still download the game and play until June. After that, the online servers will go offline and the game will no longer be accessible outside of the offline practise and local match modes. If you didn't already play MultiVersus or add it to your library, you won't be able to get it until 2024, when the game is due to return.

WB never gave a particularly good reason for its handling of MultiVersus. When the game launched in beta last year, it was billed as more of an early access affair, as there were premium DLC packs on sale and two seasons of Battle Passes. Beyond that, WB even held a big tournament for the game with a $100,000 prize pool. All of these moves point to a game that is sticking around, not one that is soon going to be pulled from sale and go offline for a long period of time.

MultiVersus will go offline on the 25th of June and has already been pulled from digital stores. The game will apparently return in ‘early 2024'.

KitGuru Says This whole situation has been pretty baffling. It isn't often we see a game in ‘open beta' running for almost a full year, with DLC and seasonal updates. MultiVersus had lost a lot of players since going live last Summer, so it will be interesting to see how many end up coming back for the relaunch in 2024.
