Remedy has big plans for Control and Alan Wake under new CEO

Remedy Entertainment hired a new CEO a while back. Now in one of his first interviews, he has expressed an interest in growing the audience for IP like Alan Wake and Control.

In an interview with The Game Business, Remedy's recently appointed CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, spoke a bit about plans to build on the studio's strong foundations with IP like Control and Alan Wake, saying “there’s so much more we can give in terms of super strong authored, creative, crazy stories and gameplay.”

He also said that these franchises “could give a lot more” in terms of sales, but added that there is “a vision on thinking bigger” in order to grow the audience. These plans do include multimedia efforts, including a TV and film deal in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive:

“To me, that’s one of the first things we need to fix, even before trying to make more games to a certain extent. First of all, maximize the potential of the ones we have, because they’re incredible. And cross-media is going to help us do that”.

While he stresses the importance of the cross-media effort, there is going to be at least one more Control game coming out before any films or TV shows. Control Resonant is launching later this year, putting players in the shoes of Dylan, the brother of the protagonist from the first game.

KitGuru Says: Remedy has managed cross-media before with Quantum Break, which had a full TV miniseries slotted in between the actual game levels. I doubt they'll do that same formula again but Remedy clearly likes the idea of having its own interconnected universe.
