Sony reportedly planning big State of Play stream for later this week

Microsoft kicked off its game announcements for the year with a short Developer Direct stream earlier this month. Next up, Sony will be taking the spotlight with a new State of Play stream planned to go over upcoming PlayStation titles, ranging from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Death Stranding 2, to new titles like a Sonic Generations remaster and a new Metro game.

According to rumours, there will be a new State of Play stream from Sony later this month. Insider Nick Baker has already shared what they've heard will be shown. Some of the highlights for the stream are said to include Rise of Ronin, Death Stranding 2, Silent Hills 2, Judas, Sonic Generations Remastered, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and even a new Metro game.

Before you get too excited about the Metro game though, it should be noted that it is expected to be a VR game. If it is being announced at a State of Play, then there is a chance that it has some kind of exclusivity for PlayStation VR2, although we would expect it to land on PC VR eventually with support for a wider range of headsets.

The new State of Play stream could be happening as early as Wednesday this week. If true, we can expect an official announcement likely within 24 hours.

KitGuru Says: Sony's line-up is primarily bolstered by high-grade third-party exclusives at the moment, with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Death Stranding 2 essentially being treated as first party releases for PS5. Hopefully we learn a bit more about what Sony's other studios have cooking.
