The Division 2’s new game mode enters playtesting this week

Back in December 2020, Ubisoft Massive released Title Update 12 for The Division 2, which was set to be the game's final content update. A few weeks later in early 2021, the team confirmed that due to fan demand, it would be releasing more content, which was later delayed to 2022. Now, we've finally received a new development update, with a new game mode entering playtesting.

Initially planned for February 2022, the new update is now entering the public test servers for The Division 2, allowing users to test out the new game mode and “significant endgame changes”.

Preloading for the update starts today and the public test server will open up to PC players on the 1st of April at 10AM BST. The announcement notes that planned changes to The Division 2's Specializations will now be coming later in the year and won't be part of this initial update.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft has not gone into much more detail on the content of this update, in part due to The Division 2's themes and the parallels with current world events. We should get more thorough details on the new game mode and other changes tomorrow once playtesting begins.

KitGuru Says: This update has been in development for so long that I think many of us forgot it was coming out at all. Whether or not this will be enough to bring a huge number of players back into The Division 2 is up for debate.

Unfortunately, it seems as though Starfield’s first expansion ‘Shattered Space’ has failed to impress players on both sides.
