The Witcher spin-off ‘Project Sirius’ has a new lead writer

CD Projekt Red has been working on a mysterious new Witcher spin-off game for quite some time now. We haven't had an update on Project Sirius in a long time but that changed this week, with the writer behind Destiny 2: The Final Shape joining the development team.

Kwan Perng, whose credits include Destiny 2: The Final Shape, Last Epoch and Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons, has joined CD Projekt Red to work on Project Sirius. The game has been in pre-production for years now, but the hiring of a new lead writer indicates that the project is now moving forward into its production phase. If true, CD Projekt Red may confirm this in its next earnings report.

Project Sirius began development in 2021, when CD Projekt Red acquired The Molasses Flood, the studio behind the game ‘The Flame in the Flood'. Since then, the studio has been renamed to CD Projekt Red Boston as part of the company's expansion into the US.

While we don't know a lot about this game yet, it is expected to be a multiplayer co-op title set in The Witcher universe but not necessarily connected to the previous games. It will be developed on Unreal Engine 5, just like The Witcher 4 and other upcoming CDPR games like Cyberpunk 2.

KitGuru Says: Assuming development remains on track with no further reboots or cancellations, then we should finally see Project Sirius within the next few years.
