Valve is finally going to fix Team Fortress 2

Last year, Team Fortress 2 hit a new peak all-time player count following the game's summer update, which was supposed to solve some major issues with the game in its current state. Unfortunately, bots still run rampant in online lobbies almost a year later. The community protested this last week in hopes of gaining Valve's attention and it looks like that strategy finally worked.

Valve hasn't updated Team Fortress 2 in any meaningful way in quite some time, despite the game still being fairly popular. However, the company is still cashing in on the game's market place, selling crates and cosmetic items, and taking a cut of all sales made on the community marketplace. Online games are also heavily manipulated by the use of bots, which spam text and voice channels, kick players and use cheats like aimbot.

Due to these on-going issues, Team Fortress 2 fans banded together for a Save TF2 campaign, pushing the message on social media. One fan even dressed up as a TF2 Spy and stood outside of Valve HQ with a sign reading ‘#SaveTF2'. This may have caused an awkward conversation between Valve and the owners of the building, as property managers later forced the fan to leave the premises.

All of this seemed to finally get Valve's attention. On the official Team Fortress 2 Twitter account, Valve wrote: “TF2 community, we hear you! We love this game and know you do, too. We see how large this issue has become and are working to improve things.”

Specific details have not been announced yet, and it could be a while before Valve is ready to share its plan of action.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully Valve can clean up TF2 and restore the game to its former glory. The game is still fun and people actively want to play it all these years later. It's not right to leave the game in an unplayable state in online lobbies, while cashing in on the cosmetics marketplace.
