Just as promised, last night Blizzard officially revealed its next mobile game – Warcraft Arclight Rumble. This is a new game set in the Warcraft universe, offering a full PvE campaign, co-op gameplay and a PvP mode, aiming to offer “Blizzard quality gameplay on the go”.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble is a strategy action game, where players will build small armies using miniature versions of Warcraft units. These armies will be headed by a ‘leader' character, and you'll be able to collect new leaders and units as you progress through the game. Some of the first leaders to be confirmed include fan favourite characters like Grommash Hellscream and Jaina Proudmore. Essentially, if you've played Warcraft, WoW or Hearthstone, expect to see a lot of familiar faces.
There will be over 60 heroes, villains and monsters included in the game at launch. As you can see from the trailer, gameplay is presented in a tabletop style, exactly as you would expect from a miniature set in real life. The single-player campaign includes 70 missions, as well as dungeons and raids – these levels will have multiple phases and should be the crown jewel of the game.
As previous leaks suggested, the gameplay does take some inspiration from Clash of Clans, but Blizzard has gone the extra mile with the addition of dungeons, raids, co-op gameplay, a guild system and more. However, we have yet to see what the gameplay balance is like. So far, Blizzard hasn't said anything about microtransactions, in-game currency or gameplay timers that limit the amount of playtime you can rack up without spending currency to build units instantly.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble will be releasing later this year for iOS and Android, assuming there are no delays. It will be the second mobile game from Blizzard to release this year, following on from Diablo Immortal, which launches in June.

KitGuru Says: Blizzard quality gameplay on the go might not be the flex that the company's executives think it is. Still, I do like what I see here, now it's just a question of gameplay balance and how much microtransactions intrude on the experience.
