Leaker claims Zelda-focused Nintendo Direct is happening in September

Ever since the launch of the Nintendo Switch half a decade ago, fans have been asking for two of the Wii U’s most popular titles (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD) to come to the console manufacturer’s latest system. Unfortunately, Neither game has found its way to the platform yet – though this may not be the case for long.

According to GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti and industry insider Jeff Grubb, a Nintendo Direct is planned to take place some time this month. While this would not be too surprising as the console manufacturer has many times in the past hosted a showcase during September, what is exciting is the revelation that it might include two of the most-requested games for the Switch, with Minotti saying:

“To be clear guys, the one thing we are very, very sure is being announced at this Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch.”

Grubb then chimed in, adding further fuel to the fire, claiming that “I think there's going to be a lot of Zelda stuff at this thing. I think this is like a Zelda blowout for Nintendo.”

The one thing which did seem for certain is the fact that a Direct is happening this month, with the pair reiterating “100% there's a Nintendo Direct in September, it's that simple.”

Many fans were expecting to see Wind Waker and Twilight Princess brought to the Switch years ago, but considering the fanfare behind both titles, it’s better late than never. We will have to wait for an official announcement from Nintendo.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess? Have you played either of these on previous systems? Which of the two do you prefer? Let us know down below.
