Microsoft announces limited edition 25th anniversary ‘Xbox Series X25’ console

2026 is a big year for Xbox. Alongside the many different sweeping changes which are being conducted both behind-the-scenes and directly as a result of fan feedback, this year represents the Xbox’s 25th anniversary. As they have done for previous milestones, Microsoft have now announced the limited edition Xbox Series X25 – featuring a throwback translucent green design.

Officially announced during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft showed off the Xbox Series X25 – a limited edition console celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary in the gaming industry.

Arriving this November, the console includes a ton of hallmarks to the early 2000s gaming space, featuring a bright green translucent case for both the console itself and the controller.

Additionally, the classic ABXY buttons have been redesigned to look closer to the original, with the Xbox button taking on a green glow – calling back “to the moment the first green ‘X’ burst onto the scene.”

Neither a price nor a unit count has been provided, and so we will have to wait and see how plentiful this limited edition system winds up being. That said, if you already own an Xbox Series X, Microsoft will also be selling the controller separately.

Official pricing and pre-order details are said to be provided “soon” so make sure to keep an eye out if you are wanting to get your hands on this special bit of hardware.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the design? Does it remind you of the OG Xbox? Do you plan on picking up the controller / the full console? Let us know down below.
