Nixxes is working “more and more” on PlayStation remasters

Back in 2021 PlayStation acquired the PC porting specialists Nixxes. Since then, the team have helped to bring a number of PlayStation exclusive titles to PC. Interestingly, according to the studio, they are now working “more and more” on remastering older titles alongside continuing to port games to PC.

Sony has been releasing a number of ‘Studio Profiles’ for its first-party PlayStation teams. Following profiles on Firesprite and Valkyrie Entertainment, they have now released video on Nixxes: “The industry-leading Dutch studio with more than 20 years of experience in game development and optimization.”

As mentioned, Nixxes have been known best for their work on releasing PC ports for many games, having already assisted with Horizon Zero Dawn; Spider-Man; Miles Morales and the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Interestingly, right at the beginning of the studio profile, Coen Frauenfelder – the lead engineer at Nixxes – said “what we provide for PlayStation Studios is high-quality PC ports and also working more and more in creating remasters. We do not create full-blown games, but we focus on specialising in those specific areas.”

With Bluepoint Games moving on to creating more original content, it is encouraging to see that Sony has a team dedicated to keeping its older portfolio of titles alive.
