Typically when customising RGB peripherals, many of us use the official apps from the likes of Corsair, Logitech and others. Soon, Microsoft may make it possible to control your RGB LEDs without additional software thanks to a new built-in controller for Windows 11. 

Microsoft has been working on a Windows feature to control the RGB lighting of your peripherals for some years. As you can see in this document shared by Albacore (via TheVerge), the specification for a built-in Windows RGB-controlling software was created back in 2018. However, Microsoft has only now implemented it on Windows 11 Preview. On the preview build 25295, Microsoft introduced a basic universal solution to control the RGB lighting of the peripherals connected to the system.

As you can see above, a few screenshots show the UI and the settings available. From what we can see, the software will allow you to control the RGB lighting of a keyboard, headset, mouse, and even a streaming deck. In other words, anything with RGB lighting that connects to a PC through a USB port. As for the customisable settings, you could control the lighting's brightness, effects, effects speed, the colours and allow it to match your Windows colour palette.

Microsoft hasn't yet officially said anything about this feature, but now that it has launched on the Windows 11 Preview, it shouldn't be long before we have some official details.

KitGuru says: Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this tool will allow you to adjust the RGB lighting of your motherboard, GPU or RAM, but perhaps this could be expanded to include other types of hardware in the future.
