Game pulls the plug on website – no more orders

Game have offically shut down now, and have pulled the plug on their website, showing a ‘is down for maintenance' message.

They say on the page “MJA Jervis and SD Maddison have been appointed as Joint Administrators of The GAME Group plc, Game Stores Group Limited, Gameplay (GB) Limited, Game (Stores) Limited, Games Station Limited, Game (Retail) Limited and Gamestation Limited on 26 March 2012, to manage their affairs, business and property as their agents and without personal liability.

We are currently reviewing and processing orders placed on this website.

MJA Jervis and SD Maddison are licensed in the United Kingdom to act as insolvency practitioners by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope to be back up and running very soon.”

They are currently supporting present orders and have an email address if you ordered a game recently and need support. Otherwise you will have to get your computer and console games elsewhere.

We know that several companies have been enquiring about a takeover, but details are not yet known. Perhaps this is the start of the death of the retail chain game store with people getting better deals online or via clients such as STEAM.

Kitguru says: the start of a new online shopping age? will retail stores become a thing of the past?
