Film studio sues BitTorrent users over gay porn downloads

A film studio has launched two lawsuits against BitTorrent users which is sure to prove very unpopular with the downloading audience.

Corbin Fisher and SKN Law.com are suing a number of people within the Ohio area for sharing two separate hash files tagged to ‘Amateur College Men Down on the Farm' with illegal downloaders.

The gay porn film was created by the Corbin Fisher film studio, who are using geolocation technology to track down the file sharers. 25 people are being cited in lawsuits as defendents, but there appear to be plans to sue more people in other areas.

Corbin Fisher: dealing in gay college porn

Fans of Corbin Fisher's movies are claiming that the price is too high, which has led to people resorting to illegal downloads over BitTorrent. The company are very active in suing people to protect their work and they targeted 40,000 people in a March lawsuit.

In a bizarre move, the studio have offered a lower ‘fine' if people come forward and admit they illegally downloaded their content, a token amount of $1,000. They claim this is much less than $990,000 which a previous user was forced to pay in a 2010 lawsuit. Ouch.

Suing people who use BitTorrent isn't as clear cut as it might seem as it can be hard to prove that some users in swarms are actually doing the filesharing.

KitGuru says: the high profile litigation might be enough to persuade people to get their porn through legal channels.
