Dell kill 5 inch Streak: Dell Streak 7 any better?

The Dell Streak was released to a mixed reception. While a niche audience adopted the 5 inch smartphone, critics weren't overly enamored with the design. Kitguru really liked it, and we reviewed it twice, following up when Dell released the 2.2 Froyo operating system.

Sadly, Dell have bid adieu to the hybrid size design and said ‘It's been a great ride'. Inside sources claim that Dell are wanting to target the full size tablet market with both 7 inch and 9/10 inch designs.

The Dell 7 inch Streak, is a new 7 inch design which has been a talking point, due to the competitive price point – of around $200 after rebates in America. Sadly reviews we have seen have yet again been less than stellar, with PCWorld giving it a score of 2 stars out of 5 stars claiming that the colours lack vibrancy and the interface (based on Android 2.2) is buggy. They even claim that the display has pixelation issues with both graphics and text.

Dell have been working on a 10 inch tablet – the ‘Dell Streak 10 Pro', with a release already made for the Chinese market. It apparently uses the Android 3.1 operating system, but it has yet to hit Western Shores.

Kitguru says: Can Dell take on the Apple iPad?
