The Meta Quest seems to be getting its own subscription service

In recent years we have seen a focus by companies on creating and offering subscription services for nearly every product or service available. This is no more so the case than with the video games industry. It seems as though Meta is now wanting to capitalise on its VR market share by offering a monthly subscription service known as ‘Quest Pass’.

Though yet to be officially announced by Meta, Twitter user Quagsire discovered within the Meta quest Android app a subscription service currently codenamed Project Apollo (with the official name seemingly listed a Quest Pass – though this could of course change).

The subscription service seems to be similar to PlayStation Plus Essential, offering a number of ‘free’ games each month which will remain playable for as long as you are subscribed.

The official leaked description for the service reads as follows: “Get up to two new apps or games every month with [Project Apollo]. Log in each month to redeem your apps, and grow your library with the most exciting VR titles.

  • Enjoy new apps the day you subscribe
  • Get easy access to the best of VR
  • Redeem and install to play right away

Redeem your apps by the end of the month, and keep your apps as long as you are subscribed.”

As of right now, it is currently unknown how much this service will cost and what kind of games subscribers can expect to receive. The Meta Quest is home to a whole host of major VR titles, with some of them even being Quest exclusive. While we will have to wait for official details, the Meta quest Pass has the potential to be a rather valuable service – or it could be terrible. We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the details released so far? Are you interested in Quest Pass? How much do you think the service should cost? Let us know down below.
