Samsung Galaxy S III mini officially announced

We've known that Samsung was to launch a Galaxy S III mini sooner or later and now that is has been made official we are a bit disappointed. I was personally hoping for Galaxy S III hardware in a smaller shell, but instead they have announced a very watered down version.

While it does have a dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 4.0 WVGA Super AMOLED display these specifications are now pretty much the norm for mid-range devices. We were hoping Samsung would do something special but no, instead it is basically a Galaxy S Advance (a phone that was launcher earlier this year) in a shell that looks like its “bigger brother”.

The Galaxy S III mini is expected to retail for around £300 off-contract in the United Kingdom. Vodafone UK has already confirmed they will be carrying the device.

KitGuru says: It really appears as if Samsung are willing the mini to sell off the success of its bigger brother, and nothing more.
