Microsoft Surface with Windows RT runs a Nvidia Tegra chipset

A few days ago Microsoft announced their Surface tablets, which on the outside look rather impressive but like all great men we consider the internals more important. The Windows RT Surface tablet (the one running on an ARM processor) will be powered by a Tegra processor from Nvidia.

The processor in question has not been specified but it will likely be the Nvidia Tegra 3+ chipset. It has not been officially announced yet but our guess it will bring higher clock speeds and a die shrink over the current generation Tegra 3 processor.

What makes this news-worthy is that it goes against Microsoft's long running Snapdragon Qualcomm exclusivity in the Window Phone platform. Microsoft is the second company to do this in recent times; HTC ended their Qualcomm streak with the Nvidia Tegra 3 powered One X earlier this year.

KitGuru says: Either way, we can't wait to see what the user experience will be like on the ARM powered Surface tablet later this year.
