Epic FBI Agents

News has reached us that Epic Games have agreed to licence the Unreal computer games engine to several US government agencies including the FBI

The Unreal engine is used in such titles as Batman: Arkham City and Mass Effect 3.

The full extent of the financial deal has not been disclosed, but in a statement they disclosed that a fee of $10m had been agreed for a multi-year contract for just a single agency. The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) awarded the contract under the Sirius program. The goal of the Sirius program is to develop serious games that result in better decision-making by teaching participants to recognize and mitigate the effects of their own biases when analysing information used to make decisions.

As part of the deal Epic have created the UGN – Unreal Government Network to provide support to the developers.
