Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches to high praise across the board

Over the years, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series has fallen out of favour somewhat, with the franchise beginning to feel far too formulaic in many fans’ eyes. Therefore, the announcement that Ubisoft were working on a remake of the 2013 classic Black Flag came with a mixture of excitement and skepticism. Fortunately, it seems as though Ubisoft Singapore understood the assignment, with the remake launching to high praise across the seas.

With a Metacritic score of 84 and an OpenCritic rating of 86, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is officially a success, marking the highest rated entry in the series since the original Black Flag from 2013 (which achieved a Metacritic score of 88 at the time).

While we will have to wait for fans to put more time into the game before coming to a wider conclusion, critics appear to be pleased with the final result, noting that “the cast, setting and atmosphere are still some of the best ever realised in the series” – though the new story additions can be less-than-perfect.

Of course, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was already one of the best entries in the series, and so it would have been rather difficult for Ubisoft to mess things up. Still, it seems the team at Ubisoft Singapore managed to successfully translate this decade-old title to modern hardware. Hopefully fans are equally as receptive.
