ultimate gift: get your girl a custom bikini from a 3D printer

Are you looking for that special gift for your better half this summer? Well why not check out the new ‘printed custom swimwear' from Jenna Fizel and Mary Haung of Continuum Fashion.

They are using nylon discs of different sizes connected by springs – which can flow around the contours of a body. You can order ‘printed' swimwear through Shapeways online store. Right now the system seems a little limited in regards to sizing, but the people involved are working on a new system to let customers send in a body scan to get a perfectly matched set of clothing.

KitGuru says: Is this the shape of the future? custom clothing made to match the 3D model of your body?

  1. Wow that chick is thin. This is a very clever idea, but I wonder how long the material lasts.
