The Game Awards reveals 2024 nominees, opens public vote

The Game Awards is airing in December and as always, just a couple of weeks ahead of the event, the nominees are now up for public voting. You can now cast your vote for Game of the Year 2024, as well as pick your favourites in all 28 other categories.

For Game of the Year 2024, there are six nominees including:

  • Astro Bot
  • Balatro
  • Black Myth: Wukong
  • Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Metaphor: Refantazio

If you missed the news over the weekend, starting with this year's show, expansions, remasters, remakes and even seasonal content will be eligible for nomination in all categories. That is why Elden Ring is making its second GOTY nominee appearance. The original base game won GOTY in 2022. Now, it has the chance to be the first game ever to win the award twice, thanks to the nomination for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

All of the titles nominated for GOTY have also been nominated for Best Game Direction. We finally start to see some changes in the Best Narrative category, which includes Metaphor: Refantazio and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, as well as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Hellblade 2 and Silent Hill 2.

Other categories to vote on include Best Art Direction, Best Music, Best Audio Design, Best Performance, Best Ongoing Game, Best Independent game, Best RPG, Best Adaptation, Most Anticipated Game and more. You can now vote for this year's Game Awards in all categories, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Do you agree with this year's list of GOTY nominees? Which game would you give the nod to? Honestly, for me it is currently up in the air between Balatro, Metaphor: Refantazio and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
