Filming for the Watch Dogs movie has officially wrapped

Back in March, we reported that a film based on Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs IP was in development, directed by Mathieu Turi and starring Sophie Wilde. With filming having officially started back in July, the team have now announced that they have officially wrapped this side of the movie’s development.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Ubisoft page shared the following: “run film_wrapped.exe(#watchdogsmovie.mp4) … … >Filming complete!”

For the uninitiated, the Watch Dogs film is being produced by ‘New Regency’, known for films such as The Lighthouse, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Revenant and 2016’s Assassin's Creed – among many others.

As a director, Mathieu Turi is not a household name, with their prior work including a couple sci-fi horror/thriller films – all of which have been received rather middlingly.

That said, every director has to start somewhere, and so it will be interesting to see what Turi and co. have planned for the upcoming film. Hopefully we won’t have another Assassin’s Creed (2016) on our hands.
