New SpongeBob SquarePants game teased for 2025

In the past few years we have seen a resurgence in SpongeBob SquarePants video games. Starting with the remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom in 2020, we’ve since gotten a sequel as well as a Patrick Star spin-off. In celebration of Halloween, THQ Nordic has teased a new SpongeBob game set for 2025.

In celebration of Halloween, both SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated and The Cosmic Shake have received some spooky thematic updates – taking the base game and giving it a fresh coat of paint.

More interestingly however, the Halloween trailer concluded with a teaser for what’s to come next, with the team seemingly hinting that a new mainline SpongeBob game will be coming some time next year in 2025.

While details remain light, the teaser seems to suggest that the sequel will allow you to play as both SpongeBob and Patrick – possibly being able to switch characters at will.

The recent SpongeBob games have been solidly fun adventures, and so it will be interesting to see what the teams at THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp Studios have planned for next year’s sequel.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
