The First Descendant has amassed 10 million players in its first week

The First Descendant is a free-to-play 3rd person co-op shooter in a similar vein to the likes of Warframe or Outriders. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game launched late last month to somewhat mixed reviews. Despite this, The First Descendant has attracted a great deal of interest – with over 10 million players checking out the game in its first week.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the team at NEXON revealed that “We've reached 10 million Descendants in just 7 days! Thank you all for your tremendous support and love. It means everything to us. We will do our best to bring you great experiences. Can't wait to continue this journey together!”

As mentioned, the game has been received with a somewhat mixed reception at launch, due partly to its monetisation and partly to the game’s relatively early state – having launched just under two weeks ago.

That said, with one hotfix already out and much more planned for the future, this could be just the beginning for The First Descendant.
