Alan Wake 2 gets surprise anniversary update

Alan Wake 2 is about to turn one-year old and Remedy has a surprise update in store. On the 22nd of October, a free anniversary update for the game will roll out to all owners.

Remedy has been hard at work on Alan Wake 2 since the game first launched. Some elements of the game's story have been expanded on already, and the first of two expansions released earlier this year. A second expansion, The Lake House, is due to release this month as well. This free Anniversary Update is arriving separately to the new DLC.

The update is said to be the “biggest addition to quality of life” since the game's launch. This includes new control options, gyro aiming for supported controllers (DualSense), and a new gameplay assist menu. This new assist menu will give players quick access to cheats, like infinite ammo, infinite flashlight batteries, one shot kills, and some other options.

The update releases on the 22nd of October for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

KitGuru Says: I'll be jumping back into Alan Wake 2 soon for the new DLC. From the initial patch notes though, the anniversary update isn't going to do a whole lot for me.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
