XDefiant is getting technical fixes and Year 2 content

The team behind XDefiant has been insistent that the game is ‘doing fine' and isn't set to be cancelled by Ubisoft. Howevever, that hasn't put a stop to rumours that the gam e won't last much longer, forcing the team to speak out again.

Mark Rubin, executive producer on XDefiant, took to social media this week to respond to rumours that XDefiant development would end soon. It was being claimed that the game would stop getting new content after the launch of Season 4.

“To be crystal clear there are NO plans to shut down after Season 4,” Rubin said. I’ve literally been in meetings as of last week to discuss our Year 2 plans.”

The XDefiant team isn't just working on new content. The studio is also working on improved netcode for the game, as well as other technical aspects in an effort to bring back players who left the game behind after launch.

KitGuru Says: With Ubisoft's future being a bit up in the air right now, it is understandable to see doubts around the future of XDefiant. However, as we've seen with Rainbow Six Siege over the years, Ubisoft is willing to stand by a multiplayer project long-term, even while massive technical changes are needed.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
