Sea of Thieves Season 14 to bring new stealth and movement mechanics

Back in March, the team at Rare detailed their full roadmap for the remainder of Sea of Thieves’ 2024 content releases – giving a brief look at Seasons 12, 13 and 14. As the year nears its end, Rare have now fully detailed everything coming with the launch of Season 14 next week.

Releasing a lengthy trailer / ‘Official Content Update Video’ to YouTube, Rare offered a close look at the upcoming 14th Season of Sea of Thieves. Set to go live on the 17th of October, the free update will bring with it a ton of new and interesting mechanics, including but not limited to:

  • New stealth mechanics
  • Crouching
  • Ledge hanging
  • New disguises
  • Blow Dart gun
  • Grapple gun
  • Placeable traps

Of course, we will have to wait for the full patch notes to understand exactly everything coming with the upcoming update, however even just one of these new mechanics being added would have been pretty major – and Sea of Thieves is set to get a whole suite of them.

It is highly interesting to see just how Sea of Thieves is evolving both as a game and a live-service title. Hopefully even more major changes/additions such as these are in the works for future Seasons.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
