Palworld PS5 announcement coming at TGS this month

Palworld got off to a hot start at launch in January 2024, but so far, the game has been an Xbox console exclusive. That is finally set to change very soon, with the long-awaited PS5 version set to be announced later this month.

According to the Japanese-focused gaming site, Gematsu, a document featuring a list of games planned to appear at the Tokyo Game Show this month has been published online. Curiously, this list does include Pocket Pair's Palworld, listed as a PS5 game.

As the PS5 is vastly outselling the Xbox in Japan, it makes perfect sense to show off the game running on PS5 at TGS.

This news follows on from the announcement that Pocket Pair plans to partner with Sony Music Entertainment to “promote new developments of Palworld” in the future. This likely means cross-media ventures, rather than anything to do with the game itself, but it is still an interesting development.

Palworld initially went viral months ahead of release for its trailer featuring Pokémon-style creatures with guns. Microsoft was quick to capitalise on the viral moment by securing timed exclusivity for the game on Xbox consoles, as well as a deal to bring the title to Game Pass at launch.

KitGuru Says: Things have been a little quiet on the Palworld front in recent months but that is set to change later this month. Hopefully the PS5 release will be accompanied by a new content update for all platforms.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
