Over 140 characters have been revealed for Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 so far

While Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi was supposed to return in 2023, the game was eventually delayed after the widely positive reception to the game's announcement. The developers have been putting that extra time to good use too, as Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (Budokai Tenkaichi 4) is due to have an absolutely massive 150+ character roster.

Anyone who grew up watching Dragon Ball in the 90s and 2000s has likely played a Budokai or Budokai Tenkaichi game at some point in time. The Budokai Tenkaichi games in particular were widely loved for their massive fan-pleasing rosters, ranging from all the main characters and their many different transformations to deep-cut side characters from the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and even the non-canon films.

Since revealing the massive character roster graphic above, Bandai Namco has been slowly filling in the blank spaces with more characters. This week, alongside a new trailer showcasing characters from the Majin Buu Saga, Bandai Namco has put together an updated version of this roster graphic, with most of the blank spaces now filled:

The roster grid above has 164 individual spaces (trust me, I counted them), and so far, there are just 25 spaces left to be filled. At this stage, we have content spanning all of Dragon Ball Z, as well as Dragon Ball Super. Long-time fans will no doubt be hoping to see some deep-cut characters like Android 13, Bojack, Tapion and Janemba to appear, as well as GT characters like SSJ 4 Goku and Vegeta, Omega Shenron and Baby.

With Dragon Ball Daima set to hit TV screens around the same time as this game's release, we will likely see some character variations based on the new series as well.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero launches this October for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
